Microsoft Xbox customer reps should thank me for being a nice dude who likes to tinker with the consoles when they show signs of faltering. As of the moment though, I can't think of anything nice to say, since I'm stumped in a couple of consoles with two sticky problems: one has a red light flashing on the ring of light, and the other has a frozen screen. Microsoft Xbox technical support tells me that there must be something wrong with either the hard disk or the MU. The latter problem may also be caused by overheating, who knows.

So I checked it out by dismantling (oops, I do that quite often) the hard disk. Actually, I just detached it and turned on the console to see if the red light still flashes or some multilingual error message appears. If it's a system error, I'd be lucky if I could get in touch with an Xbox guy on the phone. If it's just a red light flashing, I could restart the console after testing whether it's the hard disk that's got the problem or not. If I got a frozen screen, I probably placed the console beside a source of heat, such as the TV. This also happens on when a disc malfunctions.

Now back to our Xbox console button. You can actually configure it so that you can connect with other players or keep everyone's mouth shut. You do this by working out the Community or Private Chat settings. You get alert messages when other entertainment console players are online. Of course, you won't go without a gamer profile as well as your personal selection of music and game settings.
